“ I remember once with one of my Native-American friends...I think it was down around Harden, Montana...his sister was very sick and they had taken her to the hospitals or wherever, and they brought her home and there was nothing they could do for 'em and everyone was real traumatized by that.  I remember the grandfather – they built – they dug a pit and it was not very deep. I don't recall it being very deep, but deep enough that there was enough straw in it, and just a little bit of straw. And they laid the girl in the pit, and then they covered her with a blanket. And then the grandfather had this fire, and they just sat there next to her and stayed with her. And it was just a few days later that she was up running around again or – and it was magical.”
